When you use isolation and alone-time as punitive consequences (grounding, time-out) – you send the message that being ALONE is something that should be avoided, or worse, something that should feel BAD – instead of a restorative time that enables us to get back on track, calm our minds, fill-our-cup or refuel our energy.

Alone time can be beneficial as long as we don’t make it a “punishment.”
